How a case works
From the first call to the last signature
An injury case has a shape. Knowing it in advance makes the waiting easier.
- 01
Step 1: The first meeting
Free, and usually an hour. Bring what you have: the police report number, photographs, insurance letters. We'll ask how you're doing before we ask about the case. By the end you'll know whether we can help and what the next month looks like.
- 02
Step 2: The agreement
If we take the case, we put the terms in writing: our fee, how case costs are handled, and what happens if there's no recovery. Take it home and read it before you sign.
- 03
Step 3: The investigation
We gather the reports, photographs and witness accounts, and send letters asking the other side to keep its records. For a truck or a care home, that includes logs, schedules and inspection files.
- 04
Step 4: Your treatment
While you recover, we collect your medical records and bills and keep the insurers away from you. You'll get a written update each month.
- 05
Step 5: The demand
When your doctors can say what the injury will cost over time, we write to the insurer with the full account and a figure. Then we negotiate.
- 06
Step 6: Settlement or suit
You decide whether to accept an offer. If it isn't fair, we file suit. Filing doesn't mean trial; many cases settle after it. If yours doesn't, we try it.
Fees
What it costs
We work on a contingency fee. That means our fee is a share of what we recover for you, agreed in writing before we start. If there's no recovery, you owe no attorney fee.
A case also has costs: court filing fees, the charges hospitals make for copies of records, deposition transcripts, and the fees of experts who explain an injury or a crash to a jury. We pay these as the case goes on. Your agreement says how they're repaid from a recovery, and what happens to them if there isn't one.
Ask us anything about the fee at the first meeting. You should understand it before you sign.
Questions about the process
How long will my case take?
Many settle within a year or two of the injury, but it depends on how long treatment takes and how the insurer responds. We'll give you our honest estimate, and update it.
Will I have to go to court?
Most cases settle without a trial. If yours goes to court, we'll prepare you for every step, including a deposition if there is one.
Who do I call with a question?
Your attorney, directly. Their number is in your first letter from us.
Start with a free meeting
Call, or write a few lines, and an attorney will call you back.
No attorney fee unless we recover money for you. Case costs, such as filing fees, medical records and expert reports, are separate; your written agreement says how they're paid, including if there's no recovery.
